Steenberg holds the distinction of being the oldest farm in the historic Constantia Valley, generally considered to be South Africa's premier wine growing region.
The land was originally granted to the widow, Catharina Ras, in 1682, and wines were first produced on the farm in 1695. |
| Today some 300 year on, our guiding philosophy is one of minimal human intervention, based on the firm belief that wines are grown in the vineyard, then nurtured in the cellar. |

The vineyards provide ideal conditions for growing fruit rich in character, which needs only to be guided gently through the vinification process - allowing the natural characteristics of each grape variety to carry through, undisturbed, into classically elegant wines.
