Lesedi Cultural Village is a multi culture village less than an hour's drive north of Johannesburg.
Lesedi means "light" and here guests can experience and be part of the vibrant and colourful traditions of the Basotho, Ndebele, Pedi, Xhosa and Zulu people.
On arrival guests are given a traditional African welcome by dancing and song, after which a refreshing welcome drink is shared.
|
Each homestead at Lesedi is inhabited by a family living their traditional lives. Additional huts have been constructed offering the unique opportunity of staying with a family. However, all home comforts have been catered for including en suite rooms and cosy beds.
It is impossible not to get carried away by the activities as the sound of drumbeats fill the air. At Lesedi you will see the women sit outside the homesteads weaving mats and do beading work. Fine examples of their craftmanship can be seen at the curioshop. |

Cultural programs at Lesedi include multi visual presentations and tours. With bright colours and rich textures, you are taken to yesteryear when warriors and maidens danced for kings.
The people of Africa are eager to please and eager to share, like making your wedding day something none of your guests will ever forget.
Conferencing at Lesedi is an important matter and is treated as such, reminiscent of the days when dignatories gathered.
|
After important business is concluded, it is time to relax in the boma
for traditional song and dance by all the villages.
The dance culminates in communal dancing with the guests around the fire after which dishes true to Africa is served.
Lesedi awaits those willing to participate in an adventure with the people of Africa, steeped in tribal folklore and ancestral traditions. Don't forget you can also stay comfortably overnight in a homestead of a tribe.
Our culture is the light of our nation and whoever walks here will also see the light.
