HUMEWOOD GOLF CLUB
Port Elizabeth
The Course of Champions
|
| The
Humewood
Golf Course is situated in the "Friendly City" of Port Elizabeth and
is currently rated as the 4th best in Southern Africa. There is not another
18 holes in South Africa quite like it.
The course is an old-fashioned Links
designed by an English army officer, Colonel S.V. Hotchkin.
Humewood is
renowned for its rough but it does have generous fairways to compensate. |
 |
 |
The prevailing
wind is the westerly but when this turns the entire character of this testing
course changes and the par threes are quite difficult. It makes club selection
very interesting.
Animal life
abounds on the course with the crowned plover proudly representing the
Club's logo. These fearless birds are protected by a local rule requiring
a player to drop away from a nest.
The elegant
white double storey clubhouse is situated in the centre of the course and
the main bar provides a breathtaking view of Algoa Bay. |
Humewoods
Management and members epitomises the Friendly City and a warm welcome
awaits all visitors. It is also in close proximity to many attractions
like:
-
beach front hotels and restaurants
-
endless beaches
-
well known Game and Nature Reserves
like:
-
Addo Elephant Park and the Mountain
Zebra Park
-
the "Garden Route"
We are looking forward to welcome you
at the "Sunshine Coast". |
