| The Desert Express has been winding
through the beautiful Namib Desert since April 1998. It was designed and
built by Namibia's leading engineers and designers, using the most modern
technology and equipment available.
This train was truly born in Africa,
and you will see the unique colours and textures of Africa reflected everywhere:
the burnt amber leather upholstery, the rich golden and red woods, the
silver lightness of glass. Animal motifs taken from the surroundings tastefully
echo the landscape through which you travel. |

Namibia is a true experience of
the soul. This huge country, most of it comprising of huge unpopulated
stretches of arid land. The unrivalled solitude and spectacular sunsets
makes this an unforgettable destination.
The Desert Express winds its way
through bushveld populated with a great variety of trees and animals. Discover
oryx, kudu, giraffe and eland, as well as a multitude of birds.
The bushveld gradually changes to
savannah dotted with the nutritious Camelthorn and other trees of the Acacia
family. As the Savannah slips into the semi-arid desert, nature compensates
for the small amount of animals and plantlife by painting the sky in spectacular
colours. |
| Slowly, the semi-desert changes
into the true Namib with huge gold and red sand dunes. This is the home
of the famous Welwitschia mirabilis, a plant that is unique to the Namib
and can reach 1500 years!
