De Hoop Nature Reserve, South Africa Diversity and the De Hoop Nature Reserve are synonymous. Just 3 hours drive from Cape Town, and 50 km east of Bredasdorp, this pristine area offers visitors the choice of exploring a pristine coastline, a large vlei, limestone hills covered in rare fynbos, extensive sand dunes and the Potberg mountain range.
Various self-catering accommodation facilities and 10 campsites provide the ideal base from where to explore the reserve's diversity. They range from basic yet comfortable cottages to the exclusive Lekkerwater Lodge.

Lekkerwater, a gracious and well equipped home situated in an isolated corner of the reserve, overlooks the ocean and sleeps ten adults.  It promises total seclusion, comfortable facilities and spectacular whale watching.

Self-catering Cottages A rare treat awaits visitors to the ten self-catering cottages that lie a few kilometres from the sea.  From the comfort of their front door visitors regularly watch grazing zebra and the endangered bontebok. Some of these cottages overlook the De Hoop vlei, renowned for its rich bird life.

The range of cottages vary according to size, and sleep between four and eight people. They are fully equipped with modern amenities.

The reserve is a botanist's dream, with 50 of De Hoop's 1500 plant species found nowhere else in the world. Animal lovers can spot baboons, ostriches, eland, grey rhebuck, duiker, steenbok and yellow mongoose.

During scenic circular drives, visitors may leave their cars at any time and walk anywhere in the reserve, but the area can also be explored on various day walks, mountain biking opportunities or as part of the five-day Whale Hiking Trail.

Beautiful view
