Champagne Castle Hotel, South Africa "Champagne Castle” is the nearest hotel to the most dramatic views of the Drakensberg Escarpment and the "Barrier of Spears" (jagged pinnacles of rock that form part of the Drakensberg mountain range).

Of course the very substance of “Champagne” has to be nature's own facilities. Enchanting walks and strenuous climbs are on our very doorstep.

Highlights in close proximity are the Sunken Forest, Robin Hood's Grove, Crystal Falls, the Sphinx and the Bushman Paintings.

For the more energetic, various trails will take the serious hiker to the very heart of the Central Drakensberg. Guided morning walks are arranged daily.

For the active guests, not yet exhausted by the numerous mountain walks and climbs, the hotel offers a selection of facilities for their pleasure - three tennis courts, a sparkling swimming pool, bowling green, volleyball court and a giant chess board. Closeby are two golf courses.

Our stables boast a string of seasoned mountain ponies and horses. In the care of a well-informed guide, riders will enjoy truly memorable excursion rides.

Hiking and Swimming
The Hotel - Bird's Eye View The hotel's comfortable accommodation is varied to suit a wide diversity of requirements - from family units and cosy rooms with bathroom and/ or shower to standard en-suite double rooms tastefully appointed and superior en-suite double rooms with inter-leading lounge and private veranda.

Most of the bedrooms and public places take in the magnificent views of the mountains.

The main building offers a combination of relaxation and activities.

While the quiet formal lounge allows the discerning guest to enjoy a good book the more informal family lounge lends itself to happy gatherings and varied indoor entertainment.

On our warm 'berg evenings', guests gather on the large veranda with the magnificent amphitheatre of the Little Berg and the great Escarpment forming a breathtaking backdrop.

Guests delight in meeting in our “Mountain Man Bar” for pre-dinner drinks after an exhilarating day outdoors, before enjoying a relaxed meal in the large yet cosy dining room.
