Namaqualand - Land of Beauty
Namaqualand is

…a land of sunshine and temperate climate all year round, wild-flower paradise in springtime from August through October and home to the quiver tree, half-man and other hardy botanical wonders of the desert fringes.

…a land of silence and far horizons dotted with pastel coloured inselberge, alternating with the rugged, mountainous topography of the Kamiesberg and Richtersveld through which the Buffels and Orange (Gariep) rivers wind their tortuous ways to the sea; of spectacular sunsets and star-spangled nights in open and endless space.

…a sparsely populated, remote corner of the country away from over-crowded “civilization”; rural, relaxed and crime free; a nature-lover’s and photographer's paradise.

…historically, culturally and scenically part of the erstwhile Greater Namaqualand which included the southern half of Namibia from where the first discovery of coastal diamonds at Lüderitzbucht led to a diamond trail reaching ever further south through Oranjemund, Alexander Bay, Port Nolloth, Kleinzee and Hondeklip Bay to as far south as Doring Bay and the Olifants river mouth.

…surrounding the historical town of Springbok, its former glory as the hub of the biggest copper mining district in the country long gone, which is now increasingly catering for tourism with plentiful and varied accommodation as a popular stopover and cross-road to the scenic wonders of Greater Namaqualand.

…all about visiting Springbok as a starting point for:
