| Divers will find plenty to see below
the warm waters of the Indian Ocean with information on both fish species
and famous shipwrecks available at the East London Museum. Here you will
also find the only known Dodo egg in the world as well as the Coelacanth,
thought to be extinct for millions of years and caught off our coast in
1938.
For the less adventurous, the aquarium
offers eye-to-eye contact with fish (including sharks) as well as daily
seal performances.
The beautiful Amatola mountain range
is just an hour away. Visitors can also enjoy walks and trails, fishing,
surfing and sailing as well as excellent hotels and restaurants.
The abundance of nineteenth century
architecture, with the influence of the German settlers, adds charm to
the city as does the South African and international art that can be viewed
in many of the museums and galleries. The various gardens, including the
Queen's Park Botanical Gardens, and nearby game reserves are popular with
nature lovers. The Strelitzia, also known as the crane flower, is indigenous
to this area.
Adults and children alike will enjoy
the animals at the zoo and at a touch farm. There are several golf clubs
within sight of the sea, and for water sport enthusiasts there are yachting,
power boating, surfing and swimming facilities.
Take a break along the sunshine coast
and have a truly memorable holiday. |
