The Baviaanskloof Wilderness Area, is approximate 270 000 hectare of unspoiled mountain terrain.
Starting in the east at Patensie to Willowmore in the west, this deep twisting ravine runs through the parallel ranges of the Baviaanskloof and Kouga mountains.
It forms part of the Cape Floral Kingdom which is a world heritage site.

Known as the Valley of Baboons, Baviaanskloof is home to a wide variety of wildlife, including cape mountain zebra, red hartebeest, buffalo, eland and baboon.
This region is steeped in history and culture with many San rock paintings and artifacts as old as 100 000 years.
A Khoi San mummy was recently found in one of the mountain caves and is believed to be approximately 200 years old. |
At Willowmore, Vulture Mountain offers panoramic views of the area and a wide variety of activities from hiking, biking and bird watching to para-gliding and abseiling.
